Hi folks!
I am really sorry because I haven't updated last week, but here I am to do that this week...
Well, I went to an amazing show in Durham with Vic, Kaja and Ingrid. The show was The Big Church Night with Martin Smith (from Delirious) and Leeland which was really good and I felt encouraged afterwards. On Saturday, I went to the Men's Conference in Manchester with Alan and some other men from church which was really good time there, even though I couldn't have time enough to sneak around Manchester a little bit, but that's OK. On that weekend, we had the Dickensian Festival which is one of the most busiest festivals around here. A lot of people all over UK come here to this festival which the name comes from a famous British writer called Charles Dickens. It was really good to see everyone really into it, even though I just got there on the packing time. I've baked a mince pie, which was really good and traditional thing to eat on Christmas time, when I was "helping" on H2O. Talking about food, I've eaten Marmite, which I've heard that either you really like it or really hate it. Well, I can't describe the flavor because I don't think it is related to something that I had ever tasted before. I don't think that it is the best thing in the world, but I don't think it is the worst as well. So, I think if I grew up eating that I would might like it.
Well, on those two weeks we had a lot of things that happened like the bowling with the UPC youth, the laser tag with the group from Broughton, the Internship meeting, etc. Which shows that Vic is willing to support the groups around the Furness Deanery. On the Internship meeting, we've met the Board of Education in Cartmel Priory School, which is a Church of England School. It was really good to see that they are really happy to have us here and it was a pleasure to share a little bit of what I've experienced so far. The Board of Education looks all the church's schools, the network youth churches/leaders (like Vic), the Internship program, etc.
Well, I think that's all the highlights of my two last weeks... I hope you like it...
And really looking forward to the following weeks because I am going to London pretty soon and I'll have a real Christmas tree at home for Christmas... I'll take a picture of it... ^^

Desculpem pela minha falta de organização para atualizar o blog. Vou tentar pelo menos postar duas vezes por mês!!
Bom, alguns dias atrás eu fui com a Vic, Kaja e Ingrid para o Big Church Night com Martin Smith e Leeland, o que foi incrivelmente massa.... Gostei muito de tudo... e o mais legal ver que eles, especialmente Martin Smith, são bem humildes e legais... Muito legal mesmo...
No sábado, eu fui com um grupo de homens para uma conferência de homens, pela New Wine em Manchester. Foi um evento bem interessante que durou o dia inteiro quase. Mas não tive tempo de visitar a cidade.
Naquele fim de semana ocorreu o Dickensian Festival que atraiu pessoas de diversas partes do Reino Unido. Esse festival marca o começo das festividades de Natal por aqui, por conta dos contos de Charles Dickens. Neste festival muitos se vestem com trajes da época da rainha Vitória, o que torna o evento mais atrativo. Uma pena eu não poder ter participado efetivamente dele por conta dos compromissos...
Por aqui eu tenho aprendido muitas coisas novas e costumes, e uma das coisas que eles fazem para o Natal são bolos, tortas e outras comidas típicas de Natal aqui, entre elas o mince pie, que eu tive o prazer de "fazer". É muito bom ter essa oportunidade de vir aqui e passar o Natal aqui, pois cada elemento me faz sentir mais dentro do "Espírito Natalino". Falando em comidas, eu experimentei o tal do Marmite, que é algo específico daqui que muitos amam ou odeiam. Bom eu com certeza não gostei muito, mas também não foi tão ruim assim. Acredito que vale a experiência provar e tirar as próprias conclusões.
Nessas duas semanas nós tivemos muitas coisas acontecendo por aqui, como jogar boliche com os adolescentes da comunidade, laser tag com a Comunidade de Broughton, os encontros dos Interns, etc. O que apenas reflete no esforço da Vic de cobrir a região Furness. No Encontro dos Interns nós fomos apresentados para o Conselho de Educação na escola Cartmel Priory, que é uma escola da Igreja Anglicana. O conselho é responsável por assuntos relacionados às escolas ligadas à Igreja Anglicana, Network Youth Churches/líderes(Vic), programas de Intercâmbio, etc. Foi bem importante, gratificante e bom ter a oportunidade de falar um pouco sobre a minha experiência aqui e ouvir que eles estão muito interessados em dar um suporte para nós.
Bom, acredito que esse foi os Highlights das minhas duas semanas passadas....
Espero que tenham curtido.....
E realmente estou ansioso para as próximas semanas, pois irei para Londres... E neste Natal terei uma árvore de Natal de verdade em casa... legal, não é? Vou tirar uma foto para postar...^^

Those busy days... Dias corridos...

Hi Folks! How are you doing?
I hope everyone is alright...
Well... I am alright!!
I would like to thank all of you that read the blog for supporting me... It is really means a lot to me.
Last week we had Life Groups back again, we stopped because of the Half term and the Bonfire Night. On Thursday, Vic and I went to Callahan's Group, called Ignite, which has children between the ages +- 8 to +-12, I think. It was a good time there and was really nice to see the way that Sarah and Mark Callahan lead their group as well. After that we went for Tea in a pub there, called The Stan Laurel, with the 20's and 30's youth. It was really good time together, the problem was that I didn't understand that we were going for Tea and I knew that I would be back later on that night, so I had tea before. But I was looking forward to meet people around my age and just hang out, laughing about life and other things. But the most waited thing was on Friday, which Vic, Martin, Mrs Jane and I went to Grasmere to walk up on the mountain and have an apple pie when we get back. So we went up on the mountain "The Lion and the Lamb", which has that name because on the peak the rocks looks like a Lion and a Lamb. The view there was outstanding and could be better if it wasn't cloudy. Well, it took us 3 hours of fun and really nice views. Grasmere is a really beautiful village, which looks like it comes from a movie(film). At night Vic and I went to the Fun and Fireworks, which was an event from Emmanuel Church. It was really good because it was a way to do something with different churches so that the youth could be in touch with other groups, even though some already do that. The idea was meet on Emmanuel, go to the HOAD to see the fireworks display and then go back to Emmanuel to have more fun and food. It was really good the display and it was a good way to try to do something together focusing on having fun. The important thing was the cooperation between different christian groups to work for the God's Kingdom.
Vic and I went to Broughton in Furness this Monday to pray for the young people around the Deanery. It was really good time there and it was really important because we could make some new and key contacts with some towns around that we didn't have before. We already had a prayer meeting for youth but it was with a group of people from Ulverston.
On this week, I would like to write about the Youth Cafe Church, which was an event organized on this last Sunday. It was idealized, organized and lead by the teenagers from Ulverston Parish Church but they had some adult's help as well. Pete and I were in charged of the Youth band to lead the worship time. It was really good time and the feedback was very positive as well, even though we still need to improve some things. The Sermon was brilliant, the conduction was OK, the worship was alright, the games and tuck shop were a good idea. After the service the basement was opened so the teenagers could play Xbox, pool, table tennis, etc. The main idea is to have the Youth Cafe church once a month, even though the next would be in January.

Espero que vocês estejam bem...
Bom...Eu estou muito bem!! Agradeço aos que estão aí sempre lendo e dando uma força para que eu continue a escrever...
Semana passada o Life groups voltou, pois paramos por duas semanas devido a pausa que eles tem aqui chamada half term e por conta do Bonfire Night. Na quinta-feira, Vic e eu fomos visitar o grupo que é liderado por Mark e Sarah Callahan, chamado Ignite. Foi muito legal ver a forma que eles trabalham com as crianças que variam de +- 8 a +-11 anos, eu acho. Depois tivemos um jantar com as pessoas entre os 20 e 30 da região para conversarmos. Foi um tempo muito legal e bem divertido, o problema foi que eu não sabia que iríamos para jantar e sabia que iria voltar tarde, portanto já tinha jantado. Eu estava realmente esperando por essa oportunidade de encontrar todos da minha idade, ou mais ou menos da mesma idade, mas eu estava ansiosamente esperando por outra coisa que estava para acontecer na sexta-feira, o passeio para Grasmere. Foi muito legal ir para lá com a Mrs Jane, Vic e Martin. Nosso passeio consistiu em subir a montanha chamada "The Lion and the Lamb" e, depois de descer, comer uma torta de maçã. A vista era muito bonita, e poderia ter sido muito melhor se não estivesse nublado. A montanha é chamada "The Lion and the Lamb" pois o formato das rochas no topo parecem com um Leão e um Cordeiro. Levamos, mais ou menos, umas 3 horas para subir e descer de lá. A cidade de Grasmere é muito bonita, parece aqueles vilarejos de filme. Na sexta à noite, Vic e eu fomos dar uma força em um evento chamado "Fun and Fireworks" da Igreja Emmanuel. Foi uma forma de tentar unir as juventudes da cidade, mesmo que alguns deles já tivessem contato anteriormente. A idéia do evento era ir até o HOAD e soltar fogos de artifício, ter jogos, comida, etc. Foi uma iniciativa muito legal fazer essa noite, e ainda mais, acredito que é muito importante que os adolescentes vejam que o importante não é o rótulo (como luterano, batista, anglicano, etc.) pois os rótulos só afastam as pessoas. O ponto importante desta união é ver todos os cristãos trabalhando em cooperação para o Reino de Deus.
Na segunda-feira agora, Vic e eu fomos orar pela juventude na cidade de Broughton in Furness. Foi muito importante esse encontro para simplesmente orar pela juventude da região de Furness, já tinhamos se reunido antes com um pessoal mas era com o pessoal da cidade. Acredito que muitas idéias, muitos contatos puderam ser firmados lá.
Nesta semana, eu gostaria de escrever sobre o Youth Cafe Church, que foi um evento organizado neste último domingo. Foi um evento idealizado, organizado e liderado pela juventude, claro com algumas ajudas de fora. Eu estive responsável em montar uma banda, junto com o Pete, para podermos liderar o momento de louvor. Foi muito legal e o feedback do pessoal foi bem positivo, mesmo tendo que melhorar alguns aspectos. A palavra foi bem tocante, a condução do culto foi tranquila, ainda mais com jogos, doces e bebidas. Depois do culto, foi aberto o porão, onde acontecem os encontros do Life Groups, para que os adolescentes pudessem jogar Xbox, sinuca, ping pong, etc. A idéia é tornar esse Culto jovem mais frequente, uma vez por mês, mesmo que o próximo será somente em Janeiro.

Remembrances.... Lembranças...

Hey Folks,

The two last weeks were quite interesting and exciting. We had a Heroes and Villains Party at 31^st Oct, as an alternative to the people that doesn’t think that Halloween is a good thing to celebrate. Well, I was saying the whole week that in 31^st Oct was the day that Martin Luther put the 95 thesis on Wittenberg’s Church. The party was mostly for kids and was opened to people outside the church, as well. Even though the youth haven’t been there, they had enjoyed the week with a party on Saturday with lots of fun and food.

On this Saturday we had the Prayer Stall, which was quite freezing and wet because it was windy and rainy the whole morning. When I had to go back home the weather was nicer and clear, but as soon I got home a really bad storm just started.

Another highlight from my week was the Bonfire Night (click here) which happened on this Tuesday (5^th Nov) and I went to Lindal in Furness to see the fireworks display at the cricket field. It was a really good fun that night even though was really cold there.  And last Sunday we had the Remembrance Day (click here) which we prayed/remembered those who fight/died on the wars. It was a really good and traditional event. Well it was a really busy day, because this service was at 2:30pm but I also had the 10:30 am and the café church to attend. On Monday I helped in a funeral at church. It was a friend’s mother-in-law that died. It was a really good service. I hope God be with them, comforting them in this tough time.

This week I would like to tell about the places around the deanery Furness. We have 19 towns which some just join together to have enough people for youth group. I think it is really encouraging to see what people have done around here and the youth work that they are developing. We believe that God, even though it is autumn, is bringing a spring feeling around Ulverston and Furness Deanery. I feel that the schools are the key to reach the youngsters heart. Even though they seem to not like the school’s clubs and the meetings there would be considered as a club. It is exciting to know that God is taking care of every single decision that we are making here, uniting our hearts and our strengths to see Ulverston’s and the Furness Deanery’s youth raising, not just in numbers but in spirit and in truth as well.

As últimas semanas foram muito legais e bem interessantes. Tivemos uma festa  alternativa sobre heróis e vilões no dia 31/10, pois a galera aqui não acredita que seja uma boa comemorar o halloween do jeito que é. Bom, eu não esqueci do Dia da Reforma, tanto que fiquei a semana inteira dizendo sobre o dia 31/10, pois há +- 500 anos atrás(496 anos) Martinho Lutero pregou as 95 teses na Igreja de Wittenberg. A festa foi planejada focando em um público pueril, porém o evento foi aberto para pessoas que não frequentam a igreja. Os adolescentes da comunidade também tiveram uma festa que ocorreu no sábado com muita diversão e comida.

No sábado tivemos o Prayer Stall, que estava agradavelmente frio e úmido, porque estava ventando muito e chovia bastante durante a manhã . O bom é que quando voltei para casa o tempo estava aberto e bom, mas assim que cheguei em casa desabou o mundo de chover.

Outro ponto alto foi o Bonfire Night (Clique aqui), que aconteceu nesta terça-feira (05 de novembro). Eu fui ver os fogos de artifício em um campo de cricket em Lindal in Furness, o que foi muito bom e interessante, pois fui com os Ensolls que são muito gente boa. Foi muito legal estar lá, mesmo que quase congelando de frio. E no último domingo, tivemos o Remembrance Day (Clique aqui), que oramos/lembramos dos que lutaram/morreram nas guerras. Foi um evento muito bom, tradicional e muito emotivo. Foi um dos dias mais corridos, pois este culto foi às 2:30, mas eu também tinha ido no culto das 10:30 e ajudei no cafe church também de noite. Na segunda-feira eu ajudei em um funeral na igreja que era da sogra de um amigo. Foi muito tocante e muito boa a palavra, assim como todas as homenagens. Espero que Deus esteja com eles, confortando-os neste momento dolorido e difícil.

Esta semana eu gostaria de falar sobre o nosso trabalho na região Furness. Temos 19 cidades que a gente ajuda na região. Em alguns lugares, há um "grande" grupo que atende toda uma faixa, pelo baixo número de adolescentes. Mas é bastante motivador quando vemos que as pessoas se esforçam de coração para fazer uma reunião legal. Acredito que Deus vai agir intensamente aqui em Ulverston e na região. O trabalho com as escolas é uma das portas para mudar a situação daqui e alcançar o coração dos adolescentes. É muito bom saber que Deus está cuidando de cada decisão que nós estamos tomando aqui, unindo os nossos corações e forças para ver a juventude de Ulverston crescer, não apenas em números, mas sim em espírito e em verdade.

Bom... por hoje é isso pessoal ... ^ ^

Well...A week later... Bom...uma semana atrasado...

Hey Folks,

How is everything? I hope that everything is going Ok…

As I said on my last post, "what a good birthday week I had this year". Lots of nice surprises and fun at the same day. Well, it was my first birthday outside Brazil and I enjoyed it with all the differences.

On Thursday, I met my mentor’s family which lives around Grange-Over Sands. It was really nice to hang out in his town and have a nice talk with him. He is British but he speaks a little bit of Portuguese and his wife is Brazilian and she can help me to understand more about the cultural differences between Brazil and England. So, I went to Carlisle to an internship training meeting. It was really nice and fun because the idea was to hang out together. Well, I think was quite nice my trip to Carlisle, even though I was really tired after that. So, while I was in Carlisle we had like a Latin American meals because at lunch time we went to “Tropeiro”, a Brazilian restaurant, and then I cooked fajitas for dinner with Ligia’s help. I liked out time there chatting with the other interns and Kristian’s family, it was really nice. And this was the rest of my birthday’s week.

On last week we have some things that happened, like we had our first meeting with everyone that works with teenagers in H2O or Life Groups. I think that was a good meeting which helped to dream together. We had our first prayer meeting on UVHS (Ulverston Victoria High School) which I think was quite interesting there. On Thursday, Vic and I went to Broughton in Furness to see a youth club there which was quite good. So, I think basically is that besides the office work and the things that usually I do like Life Groups, etc.

On this Weekend, it was quite good because I went to play bowling with a new guy around here and it was nice time. I went to play Risk with the Ensolls which is like a game in Brazil that we call War. On Sunday, was Vic's commissioning which was nice and had a lot of people there. Bishop Robert was there to do the commissioning and to preach. It was so nice meet him after the service, because before was a little bit hard because we got a lot to do before the service starts. 

So, on this week we had our first prayer meeting, as I said before, and those prayer meetings that we are going to have are an idea so the teenagers could relax a little bit, pray, share their lives and have lunch together. We will probably help more schools in the Furness deanery as well.

Well, even though when tough times come, I am really pleased to be here and it has been a really good experience here. It is nice to feel appreciated and that they care about me here as well.

Como estão vocês por aí? Espero que tudo bem ...

Como eu disse na minha última postagem, "Que semana que eu tive a do meu aniversário que eu tive este ano". Muitas surpresas boas e legais no mesmo dia . Bem, foi meu primeiro aniversário fora do Brasil e eu curti bastante.

Na quinta-feira , eu conheci a família do meu mentor que mora perto de Grange-Over Sands. Foi muito bom dar uma volta pela cidade dele e ter uma boa conversa com ele. Ele é britânico, mas ele fala um pouco de Português, e a esposa dele é brasileira e ela pode me ajudar a entender mais sobre as diferenças culturais entre Brasil e Inglaterra. Depois de visitar o meu mentor, eu fui para Carlisle para uma reunião com os outros Interns. Foi muito bom e divertido, porque a idéia era mais passarmos um tempo juntos. Bom, eu acho que a viagem em si para Carlisle foi muito boa, mas voltei muito cansado para Ulverston. Mas enquanto eu estava em Carlisle tivemos almoço e jantar latino-americano, porque na hora do almoço fomos para um restaurante brasileiro chamado " Tropeiro ". E de noite, eu fiz fajitas com uma grande ajuda da Ligia . Eu curti passar um tempo conversando e brincando com os outros interns e com a família do Kristian, foi muito bom o tempo que passamos juntos. E este foi o resto da semana do meu aniversário.

Na semana passada, tivemos algumas coisas que aconteceram que foram muito boas, como primeira reunião com os que ajudam nos grupos de adolescentes H2O ou Life Groups. Acredito que era necessário e foi muito boa a reunião, pois ajudou a colocar todos em sintonia. Nós tivemos nossa primeira reunião de oração na escola UVHS (Ulverston Victoria High School), o que foi um tanto quanto interessante lá. Na quinta-feira, Vic e eu fomos para um grupo de adolescentes em Broughton in Furness. Então, eu acho que basicamente é isso, além do trabalho de escritório e outras coisas como o Life Groups, etc.

Neste de semana, eu fui jogar boliche com um cara que é novo por aqui. Eu fui jogar Risk com os Ensolls, que é igual a War. No domingo, foi o comissionamento da Vic, o que foi muito legal pois tinha bastante gente para prestigiá-la . Bispo Robert estava lá para fazer o comissionamento e foi bom conhecê-lo pessoalmente depois do culto, porque antes foi um pouco difícil, porque tinhamos muitas coisas para resolver antes do culto.

Então, como disse anteriormente, essa semana tivemos nossa primeira reunião de oração no UVHS e essas reuniões de oração que vamos ter é uma idéia para que os adolescente pudessem relaxar, orar compartilhar suas vidas e almoçar juntos. Nós provavelmente teremos mais escolas aos arredores para ajudar. 

Bom, mesmo em tempos difíceis que às vezes tenho, estou muito feliz por estar aqui. Tem sido uma experiência muito boa estar aqui. E é bom saber que eles gostam de mim e que se preocupam comigo.

E por enquanto é isso aí!

Sorry for delaying the post this week... I hope you enjoy it... 

What an emotional and good week… For those whom didn't know this last Tuesday was my birthday!!

And I received a lot of messages, cards, chocolates and two videos… It was one of my best birthdays… I would like to thank all the people that remembered my birthday, even though later... It was really important to me to know that people are pleased to be friends with me. I am so pleased also to have all those amazing friends that call me, send me videos, text me, send photo messages, simple messages, make cards for me, buy me gifts, etc... I feel so valuable, important and really happy... Thanks guys...^^... I am so pleased that God made us met each other and helped to develop our friendship, and doesn't matter how long i met you... Your friendship do matters to me... 

So, I think I am getting settled down pretty good, meeting people and going out with them, besides those who I had met at work meetings… This week was the lots of first times here… Like I had the traditional British breakfast (with baked beans, eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and toasts) for the first time… I finally went to the Hoad Monument with a good weather… I had the first subway and had it on the beach, which was my first time going there… It was also the first time having the Shepherds pie and Fish pie… And I did a "pão de queijo" for the first time too and it wasn't bad... I notice some things about my first times on this week: 1-The British breakfast is too heavy to have everyday… 2- Mash potato is good with everything, no matter if it is fish or meat… 3- I really should go more often to Hoad… 4- I am kind of "lucky" when I cook something at the first time... 5-Subway taste the same all over the world (I mean at least here, Brazil and US)… It was a quite good week, but the rest I will tell next week…

This week, I will tell more about my work with the Life Groups. Life groups is the youth club that we open to all the teenagers around the ages 11 to 18 years old that meet at 7:30 pm to have a time of fun playing pool, table tennis, video game or just chatting with each other. And then we split in two groups: In the young group, we watched a film that is called “The Help” that the main subject was racism. And in the older group we are reading the book of Acts from the bible. And we offered a daily reading plan, so they could read it and make some question before. I have been leading the older group in the reading on 8^th Oct. It was really good to know that they liked my way to lead, even though I am pretty sure that I need to learn lots of things yet. I was afraid to not be able to understand all the questions, because sometimes people here speak too fast, but it didn't happened and I had a really good help from Brian and Sandy.

 I really think that the Life Groups has a really good structure and good team to do a really good job with the youth.  I am so excited to see everyone “working in the same page”…

Como vão as coisas por aí?
Desculpem pela demora dobrada para postar a versão em português do Blog... Espero que vocês gostem... Mas que semana que eu tive... Foi muito legal e importante para mim... Aos que não souberam dia 15 de outubro foi meu aniversário!! E eu recebi muitas mensagens de Parabéns, cartões, chocolates e dois vídeos... Com certeza, foi um dos melhores aniversários pelas boas surpresas que tive. Gostaria de agradecer a todos que doaram um pouco do tempo para me desejar felicidades neste novo ano que "começa", mesmo que meio atrasado... É muito importante para mim saber o carinho que meus amigos tem por mim... Eu sou muito grato por ter amigos que tenho que me ligam, mandam videos, mensagens, cartões, etc.  Valeu galera! ^^... Fico muito feliz por tudo o que Deus tem feito em nossas vidas para que pudessemos desfrutar de uma amizade legal, não importa quanto tempo que somos amigos, sua amizade é valiosa para mim...
Bom, Acredito que estou me adaptando bem aqui e tenho aproveitado para conhecer pessoas aqui, saindo com elas, fora as pessoas que tenho conhecido através do trabalho. Esta semana foi cheia das primeira vezes... O primeiro café da manhã britânico (feijão, ovos, cogumelo, salsichas, bacon e torradas), primeira vez no monumento Hoad, primeira vez comendo a torta dos Pastores e de peixe, a primeira vez fazendo pão de queijo e a primeira vez na praia comendo sanduíche do Subway.
Eu notei algumas coisas nessas minhas primeiras vezes: 1- O café da manhã britânico pode ser muito pesado para comer todo dia... 2- Pure de batatas é bom com tudo, não importa se é com peixe ou carne... 3- Eu deveria ir mais frequentemente no Hoad... 4- Eu tenho muita "sorte" cozinhando coisas pela primeira vez...5- Subway tem o mesmo gosto em todo lugar (pelo menos aqui, no Brasil e nos EUA)... Foi uma boa semana, mas o resto eu conto no próximo post...
Esta semana eu vou contar sobre o Life Groups, que é o grupo de adolescentes. O Life Groups é um grupo aberto a todos os adolescentes entre 11 e 18 anos. Normalmente a reunião começa às 7:30 pm com jogos de vídeogame, sinuca, pingue-pongue e conversas aleatórias. Após esse momento, dividimos em dois grupos: O grupo dos adolescentes mais velhos estão lendo e estudando o livro de Atos. Oferecemos a eles um plano de leitura diária para ajudá-los a trazer mais perguntas. O grupo dos adolescentes mais novos assistiu um filme e teve estudos baseados em temas que o filme aborda. Eu já liderei a discussão do livro de Atos e foi muito legal ver o interesse deles nos textos e foi bom saber que eles gostaram da maneira que eu conduzi a leitura. Eu estava com receio de não entender as perguntas direito, mas graças a Deus foi fácil entender e ainda mais tive ajuda bem boa do Brian e da Sandy.
Eu realmente acho que o Life Groups tem uma ótima estrutura e uma boa equipe para fazer um bom trabalho com os adolescentes aqui. Estou muito empolgado para ver todos trabalhando com o mesmo foco...

"The Water Group..."

Hi everyone...
How are you? I hope you are having a good week...
I would like to start this post saying Happy Birthday to my sister... Because today is her birthday (8th Oct) ...Click here to get the birthday's song...
So, I had a pleasant week and just found out that I've been here in GB more than one month.... which means that the time is passing so quickly!
Last week was pretty good because it was the beginning of my work with Vic. So we some meetings to get to know how we are going to work, to know people and places. Vic and I went to Ulverston Victoria High School to see if we could try to start the Christian Union meeting there. The idea is just to provide a kind of spiritual support for christian students.
Last Saturday, we had the Prayer Stall again on the Market Cross. It was pretty good experience because I could see a typical British dance. It was better to stand there and recognize some faces there because last time I wasn't able to. Have some different tents and people standing there that I didn't see last time too. It was a good day because we had a good weather and a good time there, with a good meat and potato pie after that as lunch...
So, this week I will talk about the H2O. It is the teenager group (+/- 11 a 15 years old) of the Sunday School. It happens in the basement of the Parish Center and have a short time to develop some discussion about the themes. But I think the "teachers" are available to bring the themes in good ways, even though sometimes could looks a little bit difficult to follow the conduction. All the times that I went there I think it was quiet  good meeting, with some "ice breaker" activities, funny moments and the serious talks too.
The good thing is in UPC we have some new families that have children, but some of the churches around here aren't so lucky and they don't have many kids/teenagers. I think God has started a good and consistent work here with Sunday School/H2O and Life Groups.

Bom, eu tive uma ótima semana e descobri que faz mais que um mês que estou aqui na Inglaterra... O que quer dizer que O TEMPO ESTÁ PASSANDO MUITO RÁPIDO!!!
Semana passada finalmente começou o meu trabalho com a Vic. E desde então tivemos algumas reuniões para saber como vamos trabalhar, conhecer pessoas e lugares. Um destes lugares foi Ulverston Victoria High School que fomos ver a possibilidade de recomeçar os encontros do Christian Union de lá, que a ideia é dar suporte espiritual para os estudantes cristãos.
No último sábado, nós tivemos a barraca da oração novamente no Market Cross. Foi muito divertido e interessante, pois eu vi coisas diferentes como uma dança tradicional britânica e outras barracas que não tinham da outra vez. Outro fator motivador foi que eu conseguia reconhecer as pessoas, pois da outra vez eu não conseguia distinguir pessoas que eu conhecia.
Foi um dia muito bom e o tempo ajudou muito, e para acabar uma torta de batata e carne de almoço.
Bom, está semana vou falar um pouco do H2O que é o grupo de adolescentes(+/- 11 a 15 anos) da escola dominical. Acontece no porão do Parish Center e dispõe de pouco tempo para desevolver uma idéia, mas acho que os "professores" conseguem se comunicar com eles de uma forma bem legal, mesmo que as vezes tenham uma condução da aula meio confusa. Todas as vezes que eu estive presente foram boas, com várias atividades, momentos engraçados e a parte séria do culto.
O ponto positivo da Igreja de Ulverton é que temos algumas famílias novas que tem crianças/adolescentes, porém tem algumas igrejas ao redor daqui que tem problemas sérios pela pequena quantidade de crianças/adolescentes. Acredito que Deus tem iniciado um trabalho bem interessante aqui com a Escola Dominical/H2O e Life Groups.

Bom, Por hoje é só galera....

"We are 10 days without raining..." "Estamos a 10 dias sem chuva..."

Hi everyone,

Just to say that I am pleased that the weather forecast didn't got it right and we had more than a week without rain. Sometimes I wonder that I had already gotten more sunshine than Gabi, the last Brazilian intern, got while she was here. 

So, I enjoyed my time here getting to know the new youth minister that already started and waiting in God for what He wants us to do. I had a pleasant time with walking, going to waterfalls, riding the bike and getting to know people from the church better. It is a really beautiful this area around here. 

I have been helping on Sir John Barrow Primary School and Church Walk Primary School with their assemblies. It was a really good gathering because the children showed respect to Alan and I, listening quietly and answering the questions that Alan asked them something about the Story that he just told them. After that, I have seen some of them on the streets, supermarket and even on church. They look at me and sometimes they stop to talk with me, asking me if I was in their school or not, and sometimes they just "wave and smile" to me. I feel so warmed welcome with that. 

This week I am going to write about Cafe Church. Cafe Church is an initiative so the youth could have a service that wouldn't be too formal. So they don't have all the liturgy to follow, the songs that is played there is "new" worship songs, I mean newer than the old traditional hymns, and the people would sit around tables and have coffee/tea with biscuits. The Cafe Church is on Sundays Evening at 7 pm and is opened for different people and different ages too. It is more like the services that I used to go in my church than the morning service. Sometimes I sing with the worship team and sometimes I help putting the services on the screen, I didn't sing too much because I still have to learn most of the songs but pretty soon I will join them more often, I think. 

Normally on Cafe Church we have Refreshments, Worship, Preaching, Prayer/Blessing and a lot of chats. After the Cafe Church is a good time to get to know people here, even though I am tired almost every Sunday evening after the service.

Tudo bem??

Só para constar a minha satisfação, porque a metereologia errou feio aqui e tive mais de uma semana sem chuva. Eu penso, às vezes, que eu tive mais Sol do que Gabi teve, a última intercambista que esteve por aqui.

Bom, eu tenho curtido muito meu tempo aqui conhecendo a nova Youth Minister que começou a trabalhar ontem e esperamos em Deus o que ele tem reservado para nós. Eu tive um tempo muito bom esses dias, caminhando, indo para corredeiras/cascatas, andando de bicicleta e conhecendo melhor as pessoas da comunidade. É muito bonita essa região. 

Eu ajudei no "cultinho" nas Escolas Primárias Sir John Barrow e Church Walk e foi muito bom, pois as crianças nos respeitaram e responderam quando Alan perguntava a eles algo sobre a história que ele contou. Mas engraçado foi, depois que eu fui nas escolas, comecei a ser reconhecido pelas crianças nas ruas que às vezes pararam para falar comigo, perguntando-me se era eu que fui para a escola deles, ou às vezes eles só sorriem e acenam para mim. Eu acho muito legal isso tudo. 

Bom, essa semana vou falar sobre o Cafe Church, que é uma iniciativa muito interessante voltada ao público jovem que é mais informal e menos tradicional. Então, não é seguido uma liturgia tradicional com responsórios e tal, ou pelo menos não frequentemente; o louvor é com músicas "novas", ou melhor mais novas do que os cânticos antigos; e também é servido café/chá com algo para comer. O Cafe Church é um evento que acontece aos Domingos a noite às 7 pm e é aberto para todos os tipos de pessoas, todas as idades, etc. Os encontros do Cafe Church é bem mais parecido com os cultos que eu estou acostumado no Brasil do que os cultos de manhã. 

Então, às vezes eu canto e às vezes eu ajudo na projeção do Cafe Church, só que ainda não cantei muito porque ainda tenho que aprender as músicas mas em breve poderei cantar mais, eu acho.     

Para resumir, no Cafe Church nós temos Bebidas e comidas, Louvor, Palavra, Oração/Benção e muitas conversas...^^...  Depois do cafe Church é uma boa oprtunidade para conhecer as pessoas da comunidade e poder ter uma interação melhor com as pessoas, mesmo que sempre eu estou cansado nos Domingos a noite depois do culto.

Finally Safeguarded.... Finalmente Preparado....

Hi everyone,
I am so pleased that I can tell more about my week here and that a lot of people read it. Sometimes doesn't seems that I left Brazil for a month and sometimes seems that I am here working for a long time. But I still in my third week here in Ulverston.
I am learning a lot of things here and still need to know more about the British traditions.
The good thing is that I think people are enjoying my work here.
So, I finally met the new youth minister of UPC and she is a really kind and cool person. So probably we will start work together next week. And I've also met Laurence that is studying the chance to join our staff team. It will be really good if it happens.
In my last week, I went to Carlisle to have my Safeguarding Training so that I could listen what I should not do when I am working with children, teenagers and vulnerable adults because we need that to work with them without creating any misunderstanding and problems. I also spent my day-off in Carlisle just  to relax a little bit, but I will stay in Ulverston the next weeks just to spend time with the people here. I am saying that because since I arrived I stayed at least 2 day out of Ulverston per week. But I was impressed with the train's technology here, at least those that goes to Carlisle, they are so modern and comfortable and I definitely want to go there soon, not very soon as I said before. And this week started with something different, I went to help Alan to a traditional meeting with the new air cadets that they receive the New Testament and then Allan pray for them. It was good and quick gathering because they were so respectful. Usually the air cadets are between the ages 13 to 18.
So, this week I am going to describe the alpha course here. In Brazil we have that valuable resource, that helps people to have a first contact with christian concepts or reminds us that. We just had 2 meetings, but it is a pretty nice initiative because people call their friends to join the group. It is a confidential group that discuss about the main theme preached before in a online video. Usually we have a meal, we watch the video and than we discuss with a cup of tea or coffee. It is good to be part of this group and try to help, even if is just putting the video. I believe that until the end of this course we will grow so much as group in the alpha course, because it starts to get more personal with people sharing their difficulties and problems. The alpha course is not only for christian people or for those were christian, it is opened to everyone including for those don't want to know about Christ.
Our first meeting was about Life and the second meeting was about who is Jesus. An interesting fact is that we did that at Hald in "Question's of life" that happened on Tuesdays, but was good to think again those questions and discuss, or try to discuss.

Fico tão feliz por poder compartilhar da minha semana aqui e saber que sou ouvido pois vejo que tenho muitos acessos. Às vezes nem parece que eu estou fora do Brasil por um mês, assim como às vezes parece que eu estou aqui trabalhando por um muito tempo, mas, por outro lado, estou aqui em Ulverston só 3 semanas.
Tenho aprendido muito aqui, mas preciso aprender mais sobre as tradições britânicas, etc.
Um dos pontos positivos é que as pessoas estão gostando do meu trabalho aqui.
Eu finalmente conheci a nova youth minister da UPC, que é uma pessoa muito gentil e legal. Provavelmente vamos começar a trabalhar juntos na próxima semana. E eu também conheci o Laurence que está vendo a possibilidade de se juntar à nossa equipe da UPC, o que seria muito bom.
Bom, na semana passada eu fui para Carlisle para ter o SafeGuarding Training para que eu pudesse entender como não devo proceder quando estou trabalhando com crianças, adolescentes e "adultos vulneráveis"​​, para não haver nenhum mal-entendido ou problemas. Eu também passei o meu dia de folga em Carlisle apenas para dar aquela relaxada, mas nas próximas semanas vou ficar em Ulverston para poder passar mais tempo com as pessoas daqui. Digo isso pois desde que eu cheguei em Ulverston fiquei pelo menos dois dias por semana fora de Ulverston. Mas eu fiquei impressionado com os trens daqui , pelo menos os que vão para Carlisle, eles são tão modernos e confortáveis que eu definitivamente quero usá-los em breve. Bom esta semana eu fui ajudar o Vicar Alan em um tradicional encontro com os novos cadetes da escola da aeronáutica daqui, que eles recebem o Novo Testamento e uma oração. Foi bom e rápido tudo porque eles respeitaram o momento todo ouvindo em silêncio. Normalmente, os cadetes tem de 13 a 18 anos.
Então, essa semana eu vou falar um pouco do curso alpha daqui. No Brasil nós temos também esse curso que ajuda as pessoas a ter um primeiro contato com os conceitos cristãos ou ajuda a relembrar deles e outros assunto. Nós só tivemos duas reuniões, mas já senti que vai ser um clima muito legal porque as pessoas chamam os seus amigos para se juntar ao grupo, é uma ótima iniciativa. É um grupo confidencial que discute sobre um tema principal abordado anteriormente em um vídeo online. Normalmente nós jantamos primeiro, depois assistimos ao vídeo e, para finalizar, discutimos o tema com uma xícara de chá ou café. É bom fazer parte deste grupo e tentar ajudar, mesmo que seja só para colocar o vídeo. Acredito que até o final deste curso, vamos crescer tanto como grupo, porque ele começa a ficar mais pessoal a medida que as pessoas compartilham suas dificuldades e problemas. O curso alpha não é só para as pessoas cristãs ou para aqueles que eram cristãos, ele é aberto para todos, inclusive para aqueles que não estão nem aí para Jesus.
Nosso primeiro encontro foi sobre a vida e a segunda reunião foi sobre quem é Jesus. Um ponto positivo para mim foi que fiz essas duas "sessões" no Hald em "Questões da vida" que aconteceu nas terças, mas foi bom poder repensar as  questões e discutir ou tentar discutir.
Eu acho que por hoje é só...

Just the beginning... Só o começo...

Hi Everyone!
I am so pleased with my last week, because it was so good. I got a bike to be my own vehicle and properly clothes to not get too wet. Even though I have the waterproof clothes right now, I had a pleasant time to enjoy the bike on Saturday that it was beautiful and sunny day.
Well, It was a pretty wealthy week in a cultural meaning. I got the chance to go to an institution of a priest in Coniston and met the Bishop James. We have a retreat that we could learn more about the British culture. I went to the Lantern Procession that was good mostly because of the good weather and the commitment of the whole town.
I hope that I am being a good help here. At least I have heard good compliments until now, and I hope to do a good job here, no matter if it is difficult or easy to me.
I would like to tell a little bit more of the groups that I am helping here and I will might continuing helping. This week, I will tell more about the Toddler Group.
It was a really good meeting. It usually starts at 10 a.m but we start to set up the things at 9 a.m.
I was a little bit afraid to do something, because I don't know what could I do to entertain them yet. But I will when I get my Safeguarding training in Carlisle this next weekend.
So I was just watching the kids play and how the other people were entertaining them. This work is not directly evangelistic, but it shows to the community God's love and care through them.
It is a really good initiative doing that to the whole community around, not expecting anything (they just receive 50 pence each children to help to pay for the snacks and all the materials)  and receiving with arms wide open everybody no matter their beliefs.
Of course, this work might be a way to share the gospel, even though they don't use words to say about God.

Eu estou contente com a semana passada, porque foi muito bom. Eu consegui uma bicicleta para dar ser a minha forma de locomoção e roupas para não me molhar tanto nesse clima meio que úmido demais. Mesmo me preparando para encarar as chuvas daqui, eu consegui aproveitar dias de sol para dar umas voltinhas, como por exemplo no sábado. Estava um dia muito bom e ensolarado.
Bom, em termos culturais, acredito que foi bem edificante essa semana, pois aprendi muito sobre a cultura britânica, a cultura da região e sobre o anglicanismo. Eu fui convidado a uma instituição de um pastor em Coniston, onde eu pude conhecer o Bispo James. Fui a um retiro que aprendi mais sobre a cultura inglesa e outras coisas. Fui a procissão da Lanterna, que foi muito interessante ver quase toda a cidade envolvida e foi muito bom também, porque não choveu.
Bom, eu espero realmente estar fazendo um bom trabalho e continuar desenvolvendo um trabalho bom aqui durante esse ano que estarei por aqui.
Bom, eu queria semanalmente falar de um grupo por vez que eu ajudo aqui. Essa semana gostaria de falar do Toddler Group.
Esse grupo não é uma investida diretamente evangelistica, porém a idéia é mostrar o cuidado e o amor de Deus através deste grupo. Ele atende bebês e crianças que normalmente vem acompanhadas de suas mães. Começa às 10am, mas chegamos antes para dar uma organizada nos brinquedos e atividades.
Eu não soube muito o que fazer, uma vez que aqui você tem que tomar muito cuidado como lidar com as crianças pois pode dar muita dor de cabeça depois. Mas estarei mais preparado em breve, ao saber como poderei lidar com as crianças, pois terei um treinamento específico para isso.
Enfim, essa iniciativa eu achei muito interessante, pois é aberta a toda a cidade e só é pedido uma contribuição de 50 pence por criança para ajudar a custear o lanche e materiais. É uma forma de tentar impactar as pessoas para poder falar do Evangelho e sobre Deus.

UK - Working hard? Trabalhando bastante?

Hi everyone,
I am so pleased that I am already here in Ulverston working in the church.
I do not know all my work schedule yet, but I do know in which group I will be part of.
In this first days in Ulverston, I could relax a little bit going to the dock museum in Barrow. It is quiet interesting there, because have the history why Barrow had been turned in a "big" city around here.
As I mention before, I had started "working" "helped"a little bit with the Prayer tent in the Market Cross that happens every first Saturday. It was really good to spent the morning talking to people and offering prayer so that we could pray for them on the following month. I was introduced to the comunity on Sunday's morning service and I was interviewed at Cafe Church, the evening service, so they could know me a little bit better.
The Ulverston Parish Church is a warm welcome church. It has been a pleasant time meet all the people here and trying to remember their names...hehe...
I would like to thank everybody for been so patient with me. But I would like to thanks mostly Alan and Wendy Bing, Carolyn Dykes and Mrs Jane Parker. And the most important, I am thankful for God, because He has given me an amazing experience.
But for now, I think it is enough...

Eu estou muito feliz por ter chego bem aqui em Ulverston e ficar por dentro das atividades da Igreja.
Ainda não sei tudo o que vou fazer aqui, mas eu sei alguns grupos que eu estarei ajudando.
Nos primeiros dias, eu pude descansar um pouco e fui ao Dock Museum em Barrow. Muito interessante, pois conta a história da cidade e de como ficou "grande".
Bom, eu comecei ajudando na tenda de orações que ocorrem nos primeiros sábados do mês. Foi bom conversar com algumas pessoas e perguntando se elas precisavam de alguma oração para que pudessemos suportá-la em oração durante o mês.
No Domingo de manhã, eu fui apresentado para a comunidade e de noite no Cafe Church fui entrevistado para que a comunidade pudesse me conhecer melhor. A Ulverston Parish Church é muito acolhedora. Tem sido muito bom conhecer o pessoal aqui. Muitos já me chamaram para jantar e me levar para passear por aqui...

Agradeço a Deus pelo momento que ele tem me proporcionado... Agradeço aos membros pela calorosa acolhida, principalmente a Mrs Jane Parker, Carolyn Dykes, Alan e Wendy Bing.

In Norway... I Norge..... Na Noruega....

Hi Everyone!!

As many of you might know, my trip already started and I barely had time to update things on the internet. I am doing good, learning some Norwegian before I go to UK and I am making some new friends with people from different countries. It was so nice my trip to Stavanger mostly because we felt welcome in Norway with Arild and Evy. I went to pretty places and was good to develop really good talks with Rivo. He is responsible for us here and such a nice person.

In Norway almost everything is expensive, but while you have the experience to come here and see those beautiful things that they have here make all your expenses worth.  And if you go to Stavanger, you have to go to the Pulpit Rock (PreikeStollen) because it is so beautiful there and has a privileged view of the Fjord.

So pretty soon I will be on UK, and will be easier to stay in touch. For now, good bye and see you through facebook or skype.

Como muitos de vocês devem saber, minha viagem já começou e eu mal tive tempo de atualizar as coisas na internet. Eu estou bem.... aprendendo um pouco de norueguês antes de ir para o Reino Unido e fazendo novas amizades com pessoas de diferentes países. Foi bom o meu passeio em Stavanger, principalmente porque nós sentimos bem-vindos na Noruega com Arild e Evy, conhecemos lugares bem bonitos e conhecemos um cara bem legal que é o Rivo. Ele é responsável por nós aqui e por toda a programação que vamos ter aqui, mesmo no tempo em que ele não esteve aqui em Mandal.
Na Noruega, quase tudo é caro, mas vale a pena cada segundo aqui. E se você vai para Stavanger, você tem que ir conhecer o Pulpit Rock (PreikeStollen), porque é muito massa lá, ainda mais com a vista privilegiada do Fjord.
Então, muito em breve vou estar no Reino Unido, e será mais fácil entrar em contato com vocês. Por enquanto, adeus e nos vemos por aí...no facebook ou skype.

Packing time... Arrumando as malas...

In the beginning of this year, I didn't think that I would have some amazing experiences. So, here we are in June and a lot of things had happened to me this year. I had met some amazing people, I had met some amazing places and I got some funny moments.
I got some awesome news: I WILL GO TO UK TO SPEND A WHOLE YEAR THERE, with a stop on Norway. This oportunity is a program between NMS and the british anglican church which offers the chance for 2 people to go to work on a church, with a help of Movimento Encontrão. I am so excited about that because I am going to work on a church, learn new things and help the local community. That will be huge!
I am not acctually packing, but I am kind of packing like some information about what will happen in my next year. Part of my packing is openning a space to share every single experience with you guys. The name is UKioshima because I thought would be easier to remember and to make some fun with the fact that I am going to spend my next year in UK.    
So, Thanks for praying, for supporting me and for being happy for me guys. It was really important to me. I will go there pretty soon, but I will also take everyone with me in my heart.
Love you guys and I am going to miss you all...
It is such a pleasure having you in my life...

No início do ano, eu não sabia que eu teria experiências incríveis. E aqui estamos, em Junho, e muita coisa já aconteceu este ano. Conheci pessoas incríveis, lugares incríveis e tive momentos muito divertidos e engraçados.
Eu tenho uma ótima notícia: EU VOU PASSAR UM ANO NO REINO UNIDO, com uma pequena escala na Noruega. Esta oportunidade é um programa entre a NMS e a Igreja Anglicana britânica que oferece a chance para 2 pessoas para trabalhar em comunidades britânicas, através do Movimento Encontrão. Eu estou muito feliz e animado para ir, pois vou trabalhar em uma igreja, aprender coisas novas e ajudar a comunidade local. Será muito legal.!
Não estou arrumando, de fato, as malas ainda, mais estou meio que me preparando com algumas informações de como vai ser o meu próximo ano. Parte dessa preparação é esse blog que eu fiz para dividir tudo o que acontecer lá. Esse nome para o blog é para ficar fácil para vocês lembrarem e para fazer um trocadilho com o fato de eu estar indo para o Reino Unido passar um ano.
